FASHION SHOW

The Pink Runway Project is accepting entries for their inaugural fashion show celebrating survival and choice. The Pink Runway Project (PRP) is a freestyle design fashion show open to both concept stage and realized works designed by professional and young fashion designers, tailors, stylists, fashion design companies and other businesses in this area.

We plan to showcase a variety of looks ranging from formal to graffiti art/street art inspired in design and construction and can range in looks from day-to-night. Our beautiful models honor women of all ages and sizes who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery.

PINK RUNWAY PROJECT DESIGNERS:

MICHAEL SHYKA

A Silk designer Michael Shyka has been creating handmade garment designs for more than 15 years. After attending the Parsons School of Design in New York City, Shyka worked in the fashion hubs of New York and Miami Beach before returning his native Maine to be with family.

Shyka works out of a shared studio space on Park Street in downtown Bangor. All of his silk designs are hand-painted and form garments of all kinds, from scarves to kimonos. His unique talent is his refreshing & glossy with hand dyed silks in bright solids and eclectic prints. His ability to paint on fabric has no boundaries as Shyka expresses himself freely.

ONE LUPINE FIBER ARTS

One Lupine Fiber Arts has grown out of their love for wool and their respect for the rich history of textile development and design. Hand felting is an ancient artistic tradition used in every corner of the world to create shelter, clothing, fine art and more. They draw upon a variety of design techniques to create their finished work and felting kits.

One Lupine products are comprised of fiber from sheep raised in Maine by growers who value their flocks, and are committed to rural living in Northern New England. One Lupine purchases their wool as raw fleece and hand process it to create the washed, dyed, combed and spun fiber found in their kits and finished work. This hand processing ensures that no two kits are exactly alike, and each finished piece is unique.

SPONSORSHIP

The inaugural Pink Runway Project is a gala evening celebrating survival and

choice. It is Maine’s first and only charity event to bring awareness to the breast reconstruction options available to all women diagnosed with breast cancer. Women, their health care providers and all those touched by breast

cancer are invited to take part in a glamorous evening of entertainment, education and inspiration for an important cause.

Your sponsorship will support a New York-style fashion show featuring breast cancer survivor models wearing original pieces from local fashion designers. This formal gala will also feature live music and performances, a silent auction with great prizes from Maine vendors and hors d’oeuvres and desserts from local chefs. Above all, the night will illuminate touching and inspiring tales of breast cancer survival and the revival of female self-image. Every survivor should be empowered with a voice and a choice.

Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day in the best way possible — by sponsoring and supporting the uplifting energy that will fill Bangor, Maine’s Cross Insurance Center ballroom on the evening of October 18, 2014.

Proceeds from this charity event will be donated to the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition and the BRA organization. Please consider a sponsorship today and help support breast cancer survivors’ awareness of breast reconstruction options in your area!
